On the road to Bangalore, India · 2020
This was a completely random photo series that I thought I could put together while reviewing my photos after a drive to Bangalore. All the photos in the series deal with some kind of transportation element and the human element. All the pictures deliver some kind of work-related aspects like traveling to work or in some cases the work is obvious.
I also want to emphasize the dependence of humans on machines in their day-to-day life and activities. All these people are depending on some kind of transportation system/machine as a helping hand in their work or to reach their destination. The interaction and the system have become so intertwined that we don’t actually draw any lines in between.
These photos were taken in December 2020 when the implications of Covid are still continuing. Some of these pictures remind me of my school days when we used to go running into packed private buses and sharing one seat with two or three friends and enjoying the ride to school or back from school. Most of the time we would be standing, but that was not a problem since we enjoyed those moments of shared happiness and a sense of belonging. I think this is one thing that most people missed during Covid times. Even though things are getting better now, many people use private transportation to avoid risks. It is not about the method of travel to work; it is more about that sense of shared happiness and belonging that we wanted to hold on to.
